"On the way from Tara Canyon to Žabijak, one can see amazing rock formations owing to tectonic movements. Strata of rocks squeezed and wrestled each other, creating a spectacular visual effect. They symbolize the meeting and clashing of cultures of the East and the West".
The clashing of cultures is the core concept of Balkan Impression, in which more than forty Hong Kong intellectuals and art lovers participated, decomposing their ideas in forms of chronicles experiencing nature, urban surrounding, heritage monuments,
motives and different inspirations into their own languages and frameworks.
In form of a tour presentation in two cities, Hong Kong, China and Pirot, Serbia, the exhibition offered an opportunity for intercultural dialogue between two countries, and above all, to build a platform that bridges eastern and western art and culture. The exhibition outcome along with artists’ and audiences’ responses sufficiently make Balkan impression a momentous manifestation.
