Design concept
Choosing the principle color orange for the catalogue, Balkan Impression, is because of the rooted impression on the little orange housetops while exploring the Balkans. Other than that, the color orange symbolises the positive energy of our delightful journey and our passion towards the arts ,as well as hoping to spread such spirit to the locals around the regions.
By applying the itinerary map of our voyage onto the cover wrapper, readers can easily understand the route we made to different destinations. By blending Serbian Cyrillic, English and Chinese alphabet, a pattern of
typefaceis created for exhibition’s visual image.
Aside from that, the cover wrapper serves as a manual experience where readers are able to “reveal the mystical veil of the Balkans”. The photography accompanied on the catalogue cover after unravelling the veil, is selected by our curator, Jor Yin Fun. Her capture of such peculiar landscape shows how mountains interweaves with mountains into a sort of unique pattern. The curator believes that such phenomena obtains a great significant of both Eastern and Western cultural exchange.
